Feeling stuck, lets chat. 5 Holistic steps to wellness
Grab your cup of coffee, Tea or wine - no judgement here queens- and let’s get chatting.
Now more than ever we are having to sit with ourselves, no real escape (thanks corona) BUT this was always necessary for your growth. Often we get so use to pushing that 'thing' to the back of our minds burying it under social commitments, work, family, life, shit that we never get around to dealing with it, until its manifested into something physical. what do I mean? Well... when we don't deal with issues as they arise, debunking the layers one at a time to eventually get that domino effect and deal with the issue in a healthy way to solve or work through it, it can manifest into a physical symptom, often an illness maybe a constant headache, triggered anxiety or panic attacks, maybe it’s being physically exhausted, depressed, sick, withdrawn. you name it, and no doubt that 'thing' can appear in any shape way or form. So, you say this may be your sitch, how do we deal with it? How do we break those clever little blocking routines you have mastered and work through that shitty shit? let me weigh in.
Here are 5 things to holistically help your wellbeing, mind and body. why 5? because 4 isn't quite enough to push for change and 6 is too much to retain when we have kids taking 98% of our mental state away. we have limited space up in this joint.
So, let’s begin.
1. Journaling
Get everything out of your head and onto paper. Our minds become so busy we don't process what’s actually happening, when we visually see it we can begin prioritising it, categorising things into tasks, problems that we can create solutions for, what needs our immediate attention, our goals and aspirations and honestly anything that is popping up .. it needs a place to be acknowledged. Every day we need to be able to turn our lights dim and reflect, if our mind is overflowing, we simply haven't the space.
2. Meditation
Goes hand in hand with journaling, it’s getting that 3-5-10 minutes of space to go internal and reflect, create that time to sit with yourself, calm your mind and connect with your body. Meditation is an art and it takes time to not hate it for most, Fun fact meditation lowers your cholesterol which is your stress hormone so significantly that its used as treatment in medical studies for brain injuries. it’s pretty powerful y'all. anyway, create that place to be with yourself, find a guided meditation you don't hate and just give it a go for 1 week. commit yourself, I challenge you, I also believe in you.
3. BOUNDARIES
I don't need to elaborate I’m sure, simply if you don't put boundaries in place for that which does not cause you happiness but in fact you find your triggered, anxious and insecure, you need to advocate for your mental health and chuck a boundary in place to stop the cycle continuing. If you don't be the change you want to see, nothing will change and nothing will get better. tough love dolls.
4. Follow positive and inspiring people and content on all socials.
IF YOU CAN, GET OFF SOCIALS ALL TOGETHER. put this to the test, another challenge but again I got faith in you. Begin by - if you find yourself comparing yourself in a negative way to someone you follow, unfollow them, if you don't follow someone for genuine reasons, unfollow. if you don't align with someone’s content, values or generally them as a person and it makes you feel a type of way, unfollow. INSTEAD follow inspirational people, mindful, educational, confident, loving, open minded content that you enjoy. When you realise that beauty is not skin deep, then my loves we are starting to get that bit closer to self love.
& lucky last
We all know sunshine = vitamin DD = happy hormone production. okay okay. but guess what that fresh air, that committed routine, that strong body feels well, that all contributes to a healthier mind babes. we all know this, it’s hard I know. boy do I fucking get thatttttt. but get over that week hump and when you see your body feeling better, stronger that’ll feel good, when you get back from that run, you’ll feel like you've accomplished 1 thing if nothing else, when you just get that fresh air and that beautiful sun on your skin and appreciate the ability and freedom of how lucky we are, that’ll expand you, there form adding a little sprinkle of wellness to your life.
Learning to breathe through stressful situations, how to be mindful of your what you contribute to situations, surrounding yourself with better more aligned people and partaking in self-development workshops, yes! all are big players in this healing game, but we must start somewhere, WE HAVE TO START today even, tomorrow isn't guaranteed. corny but true... and having those 5 things in place in your life is an important place to begin. It’s no body’s job to do this for you, people don't we you a dang thing, final thought I wish to leave you with is ultimately our goal as human beings is to leave this place a little better then we found it, be kind, be mindful be the strongest most resilient version of yourself and take what is yours!
Love and Light
